Former Kings G Rajon Rondo Arrested in Indiana on Drug and Gun Charges
USA TODAY Sports

It seems former Sacramento Kings guard Rajon Rondo was arrested Sunday night during a traffic stop in Indiana. According to a report from WDRB and court records, the 16-year NBA vet was taken to Jackson County Jail and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana.

Rondo was initially pulled over due to a caller describing his 2022 Tesla driving "recklessly on I-65 Southbound." The officer reportedly smelled marijuana once he was pulled over, eventually leading to a search of the vehicle.

During the search, both a gun and a "personal use" amount of marijuana were found, for which he was taken to jail and immediately posted a $700 bond. A juvenile who was in the car at the time was effectively released to a family member upon the arrest.

The firearm in Rondo's possession was illegally owned due to a no-contact order done in 2022 when a Louisville woman requested an emergency protective order.

Per court records, Rondo's initial court hearing for this case is scheduled for February 27th. Each of his charges is deemed a misdemeanor.

Rondo spent the 2015-16 NBA season stationed in Sacramento, where he played 72 games, averaging 11.9 points, 11.7 assists, and 6.0 rebounds. He was a four-time All-Star with the Boston Celtics, where he won one championship in 2008, also winning another with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. He last played in the league during the 2022 season.
